WoW Classic has been out for some time now, but how well does it stack up when put next to the Vanilla version? The original vanilla WoW came out such a long time ago. At this point, it’s been almost 16 years since its release. Since not a lot of people talk about the differences between World of Warcraft Classic and WoW Original, we’re here to do just that. We’ve already had an ample amount of time exploring WoW Classic, so we can really see stark contrasts between the two versions of the game such as how easy it is to farm WoW Classic gold, hence we’ll be talking about the major differences between the two giants—or at least the ones that stick out the most!
If you’ve ever played on a private server in the Original World of Warcraft, chances are you’ve already noticed something about the economy. The economy moves at a relatively slow pace and doesn’t just fluctuate around like an ocean during high tide. While in Classic WoW, the economy moved rather rapidly—to the point that the inflation rate of gold is much higher compared to that of WoW Vanilla. Although essential items like general materials and items used for leveling professions are still cheap, players in WoW Classic can easily accumulate tons of gold. This is thanks to the introduction of many efficient ways of farming gold.
Raids have become more accessible for players in Classic WoW compared to Original. In Original, it was rare to see players have full buffs and every type of potion in their arsenal. But now, people just easily charge through this aspect of the game while having every consumable potion that you can imagine. It’s not because the game is easier, but it’s more thanks to the fact that players, especially the ones that have played Original World of Warcraft before, know what’s coming. Since everything has been data mined, players know what they’re getting into—making them more efficient and effective. There aren’t any surprises anymore, since every patch that’s going to be released for WoW Classic is almost the same as the ones back then for Original WoW.
The Trending Profession
Back in the original WoW version, professions weren’t really all that important. In fact, some of the top-ranked players never really had a goal and skipped them entirely; either that or they opted for something else. Today in Classic WoW, whether it’s for PvE or PvP players—hardcore or not—there is one prominent profession: Engineering. This profession has become a hit thanks to being a great help in dungeons and raids. It’s also the only profession that lets you have a companion pet. Despite these great things, what made Engineering so fun is the simple fact that it’s a fun skill to get in on. The gadgets that you get to tinker with are all unique and combo-ing with this skill is super satisfying.
The progress in Original WoW is absurdly slow. Granted the game is almost 16 years old, but it always felt like the endgame was miles away. While this hasn’t changed that much in WoW Classic, there have been some new additions that were made to liven up the snail’s pace. One of the highlights includes the revamped AddOns system. In a nutshell, AddOns are used for players to customize the user interface to their liking. They’re so popular to the point that there are lists of the best AddOns that you can use depending on what you’re going for. For instance, if you want an interface that prioritizes how much WoW Classic gold you’ve accumulated, you can easily download one. AddOns systems are a huge help if you don’t want any clutter in your interface.
