HOW TO BEAT FFXIV’S OPERATION ARCHON

Operation Archon is the last story quest of the base game. As such, players need to beat it to unlock postgame content and beyond. However, to beat it, you need a full team of eight, as well as a sound strategy to follow. Don’t worry, this won’t make you spend your hard-earned FFXIV Gil.

Read on for the strategy and team composition.

FFXIV OPERATION ARCHON

Team Composition

You have 8 slots. Assign four slots to damage dealers, two to tanks, and two for healers. This way, you can separate into two teams. Two damage dealers, a tank, and a healer make up each team. As for why, it will be detailed in the strategy section.

For recommended classes, Summoners are valuable since they can call in creatures to temporarily fill in the roles of downed allies. They’re also exceptional damage dealers through their damage over time effects. Then there are White Mages, who have the best HP recovery skills and buffs. However, even if you haven’t recruited any of those two, you’ll still be able to beat the quest if you follow the strategy. That is, as long as you also complete the roles.

Strategy

There are two tankers in the team. While one takes on the boss, the other acts as an off-tank. At a certain point in the fight, extra mobs will appear. It’s the off-tank’s job to keep those enemies from harassing the main tank. That’s why you’ll need two teams. One will focus on the boss, and the other will focus on the extra mobs that will appear.

Now, the boss has three major damage-dealing attacks to avoid. First, it shoots sparks in front of it. A critical hit can OHKO DPS and healers in range. Avoid being in front as much as possible if you’re not a tanker. Second, it shoots out a ring of fire that will damage anyone caught inside. You’ll see the range of the ring where it will land. Lastly, it will fire missiles that can kill anyone in the middle of the explosion. A red circle will appear where the missile will land. The main tank will have to drag the boss out of range so the DPS can continue dealing damage while avoiding the missiles.

Keep on damaging the boss while being mindful of the above strategy, and you’ll see the fight to the end.

Additional Notes

It doesn’t matter which Final Fantasy classes you recruit. What’s more important is being able to follow the strategy and having the right characters for each role. The teams can be broken into 3 and 5, as long as one character fills each role in the three-man team. They should also be able to keep the extras at bay so the other team can do their jobs properly. Communicate and work with your teammates, not against them.

If you find your attacks are not effective from behind the boss, try going to the side. Pay attention so you don’t end up in front of it though. Healers should keep the party’s HP topped up as much as possible as they join in the attack.

And that’s that for Operation Archon! Following these instructions should let you finish the fight easily so you can get back to farming FFXIV currency. Continue enjoying Final Fantasy XIV!

Botany FFXIV Gil Guide

Botany FFXIV Gil Guide

Among the Disciples of Land, Botany is one of the more accessible ones, and for many good reasons! Thus, it’s highly advisable that you take it up. Here’s how you can level up and make your fair share of Gil in Final Fantasy XIV as one.

Beginning the Botanist Life

As a Botanist, you’ll be earning FFXIV Gil by using the materials you gather for the following Disciples of Hand classes:

Carpentry, Weaving, Culinarian, and Alchemy. You can also sell the materials as they are and have them purchased by other crafters for a good price. In addition to that, gathering plants is a rather calming activity, a good way to take a break from hectic questing and constant battles.

To start your life as a Botanist, talk to Fufucha at Gridania (6, 8). He’ll be giving you a low-level hatchet, signaling the beginning of your life as a botanist. Now you can start leveling and gearing up.

Leves for Leaves

As early as level 1, you can already start gathering. Take on the class quests, as well as the Level 1-5 Levequests from Gridania Adventurers’ Guild and The Bannock. Once you hit level 10, you can get level 10 Levequests from Central Shroud, Bentbranch Meadows. The next Levequests locations are as follows:

  • Level 15 – East Shroud, Hawthorne Hut
  • Level 20-25 – South Shroud, Quarrymill
  • Level 30 – Eastern La Noscea, Costa del Sol
  • Level 35 – Coerthas, Observatorium
  • Level 40 – Coerthas, Whitebrim
  • Level 45 – MorDhona
  • Level 50 – Ishgard

But don’t just be content with class quests and Levequests. You should also try your hand at rotations. Not only will this ensure that your daily grind won’t be stale; it’s also going to prepare you for the future.

It might seem a lot less convenient, but it’s now a more diverse and flexible experience. Plus, the materials you’ll be gathering at this point are going to be more useful. That means more worth in FFXIV Gil. Do note that before you start leveling up past 50, you should visit Fufucha.

The reason behind the breath of fresh air in Botany leveling after 50 is Scrips and collectibles. For this new kind of gathering, you’ll be tapping unspoiled botany nodes, which you’ll be gathering as collectibles. You’ll then hand them over to an NPC in MorDhona, which can earn you up to hundreds of thousands of EXP per unspoiled collectible Botany node.

Endgame and Business

By that point, it’s going to be a cycle until you reach level 60, when you’ll have to start buying “Regional Folklore Tomes” to unlock new Botany nodes. Keep in mind that they’re worth lots of Scrip.

Now, for the million-Gil question: What specific materials are going to earn you the most? Well, as much as we’d like to give a definite answer, it’s far too server-dependent to give one. For that, you’ll have to check the Mogboard.

However, as a basic rule, general materials used to craft basic materials are a quick and easy way to make Gil. Good examples of these are logs and cloth, as well as ingredients used for foods and potions. Heck, materials required to be turned in for Botany quests can also be quite the sell. After all, selling materials are all about selling to the lazy: you’re doing someone else’s work for their money.

When compared to other Disciples of Land, Botany is right in the middle when it comes to profitability. It could’ve been better, but it’s definitely not in a bad place. That means it’s all up to you how you’re going to make Disciple of Land work for your favor.
